first full day at the shelter. it was equally amazing as it was completely exhausting.
Hoover was my dog of the day, in that I spent the most time with him, and will probably be working most with him cause I have a bit of a crush. He’s absolutely miserable in his kennel, we have like three locks and a roof on it because he continues to escape and generally go bat shit when he’s in there. You get him out, and he’s fucking fantastic. He’s a genius, and probably a little too smart for his own good cause he’ll test you time and time again to see what he can get away with. He’s a good boy though, he just needs to start living in a home and I think he’d really shine.
Raven, oh Raven. SUCH a goober. She was saved from our local shelter the evening before she was set to be euthanized. Obviously overbred at three years old she is proving to be great with all people and dogs. She’s a tiny little tank, and has zero training, but just wants to snuggle and love love love. After about 20 minutes of “learning” the sit command, which she still wasn’t quite getting we decided to take a break and just have play time … which led to her getting a tutu somehow.
Then there are the little chi puppies. These goobers were both adopted before being in the building even 24hrs. Some guy in LA found them abandoned in a box behind a grocery store the day he was moving to Las Vegas. Knowing what the shelters are like in LA, he packed them up and found us when he got to town. They arrived last night at around 8 weeks old, and were both adopted by this afternoon, and will hopefully be going home late next week.
